About Us
Indigenous Students' Union (ISU) operates as both a Student Representative Association (SRA) under the Students’ Union (UASU) and under the umbrella of the Dean of Students (DoS). We seek to create a safe and inclusive space for self-identified Indigenous students to re-affirm and foster balance in spiritual, mental, physical, and emotional health through the promotion of cultural, political, academic, athletic, and interpersonal interests.

miyo-wîcihtowin Program
Sign up today!
It can be difficult to connect with other students and to navigate the U of A campus as a newer student. Because of this, we have created this program to connect upper level Indigenous students with other lower level Indigenous students at the U of A based on the Cree principle of miyo-wîcihtowin. (ᒥᔪ ᐑᒉᐦᑐᐏᐣ)

otâpasinahikêw art community
Wednesdays 2-5pm, ISU Lounge
otâpasinahikêw meaning; artist who creates. This community aims to create kinship through art and create a space for Indigenous, First Nations, Metis, and Inuit students to share their skills. It brings opportunities for students to have more access to traditional mediums practices while building relationships with Indigenous artists and communities.
Childcare: Subsidies & Support

The ISU childcare subsidy offers a range of subsidy options to help Indigenous UofA students-who-parent alleviate some of the burdens associated with childcare.
